The "Blue" Series (1999)

« The theme of Kim Normandin’s Blue series is love. A love she expresses through delicates monochromes full of fragility and femininity. The artist reduces the cold feeling that often comes with the colour blue with voluptuous shadings and curvy landform shapes. Generally, the pieces have extra softness with a light touch of blur. Sometimes, however, they demonstrate a clarity of ice underlined by beautiful piercing looks and courageous shortcuts. When Kim Normandin paints, her mind wanders.  Questions come to her thoughts. She takes notes. And, curiously, those notes are written directly on the canvas. We can decipher a few words randomly before realizing that these texts bring an insolite substance of the highest importance. »
